Concept & Design Thinking

The "15/677 ic" project at the Imperial Porcelain Factory Gallery is an integrated artistic presentation of the porcelain creations of renowned ceramic artist Inna Olevskaya. Both the exhibition design and the accompanying catalogue have been conceived with a single concept in mind: to encourage intimate, direct interaction with Olevskaya's delicate porcelain art.

Unlike conventional porcelain exhibitions, "15/677 ic" broke the traditional museum paradigm by removing protective barriers and allowing visitors to engage closely with each piece. The carefully designed exhibition invited visitors to move freely around the artworks, fostering an immersive visual and spatial experience. At the centre of the exhibition was the artist's striking porcelain sculpture "Journey to the Past", which captured the viewer's attention with its graceful forms and meticulous detailing, dramatically set on a minimalist black plinth.

The catalogue accompanying "15/677 ic" took an equally thoughtful and tactile approach. Instead of a standard bound book, the catalogue took the form of a carefully curated series of elongated postcard-sized sheets. Each card featured a detailed photograph of Olevskaya's porcelain art on one side, with a brief description of the work on the reverse. This innovative format offered visitors a personal, tangible connection to each piece. The postcards were wrapped in the Imperial Porcelain Factory's signature tissue paper, typically used to package their precious porcelain, adding to the sense of authenticity and care. The wrapped set was then housed in a sleek black folder box, echoing the exhibition's sophisticated visual language and thematic reference to "15/677 ic", the specific black pigment used in Olevskaya's recent porcelain artworks.

Together, the exhibition design and uniquely formatted catalogue reflect the artist's desire for careful contemplation and intimate engagement, highlighting the delicate beauty and artistic depth of Inna Olevskaya's porcelain creations.
