Lead Designer, Renovation Concept and Design, Interior
The renovation of Ca De Mill Villa was inspired by its historic charm and stunning natural setting. Situated on a massive natural rock formation overlooking Lake Como, the core of the design concept was to harmonise the villa's rustic heritage with contemporary comforts suitable for high end holiday rentals.
PotA distinctive feature of this project was the integration of the existing natural rock formations directly into the architecture and interiors. In particular, the natural stone became a central design element in the lower level spa area, dramatically emerging from the wall to frame the Jacuzzi, creating a unique tactile experience that blurs the boundaries between nature and interior space.
The retention of original materials and textures such as exposed stone walls, timber ceiling beams and rustic brick vaulted ceilings was fundamental to maintaining authenticity. These elements coexist seamlessly with modern updates — crisp white walls, sophisticated lighting and understated, elegant furnishings. The villa's original cantinas have been creatively transformed; one serves as an inviting wine tasting room, designed with atmospheric lighting and future bespoke wine cabinets.
The interiors have been carefully redesigned for comfort, luxury and versatility. Two master bedrooms and guest rooms feature a soothing palette and subtle textiles to emphasise tranquillity. The children's room and loft bedroom offer playful yet sophisticated accommodation. The spacious kitchen, dining and living rooms balance openness with intimacy, creating a continuous flow that culminates around the cosy fireplace area.
Extensive outdoor spaces have been meticulously landscaped to offer stunning views from every balcony and pathway, emphasising the villa's greatest asset — its panoramic views of Lake Como. The result is a refined and welcoming environment that perfectly blends historic elegance with contemporary amenities for an upscale yet authentic experience.
